Russell Crowe is a real life Robin Hood

The 45-year-old actor took a break from shooting upcoming film 'Robin Hood' in Sunningdale, Berkshire, to visit a Cancer Research store where he spoke to staff before handing over the generous sum.

A volunteer said: "We couldn't believe it when Russell Crowe came in and gave us the money. We knew he was in the area and we were all hoping to see him, but we never thought we would get quite so close to him. "We were all a bit star-struck, but it was lovely to meet him and he stopped and took the time to speak to us."

Russell has been very generous with his money recently. Last month, the star gave staff at a Welsh pub a £600 tip to thank them for preparing dinner for him and nine friends.

One worker said: "Now if anyone badmouths him I tell them to shut up. He could have paid and just left but they stayed instead and entertained us."Then he paid us that tip - it's the last thing you expect. He seemed quite friendly and chatty like a really nice guy."

Germans can now pre-book holiday sunloungers

German holidaymakers no longer need to stampede to the pool at dawn and annoy British tourists by claiming all the sunloungers -- they can now do it from home.
Threatening to fuel a long-standing joke in Britain, travel agency Thomas Cook said that German tourists could pay in advance to bag a poolside lounger when they book their package holidays. The offer is only available in Germany.
The Daily Telegraph newspaper said three euros a day was all it cost to wind up British holidaymakers by reserving a sunlounger and an umbrella -- without the need for a pre-dawn raid to cover them all with towels.
Thomas Cook's German branch is offering the service, with nine hotels having signed up so far.

There'll be no need to reserve a sunlounger when you grab yourself one of these Luxury Loungers, available in 4 great colours. Now Only £39.99, perfect for a lazy day in the sun,

'Ramsay is a one-trick pony'

Antony Worrall Thompson has said that Gordon Ramsay is a "one-trick pony" as a chef.

The former Ready Steady Cook star told Waitrose Food Illustrated that Ramsay is limited in the type of food he prepares.

Thompson said: "Gordon knows Michelin food but I have a feeling he hasn't got any depth.

"I don't think he reads cookbooks like they were novels like I tend to do. He's a one-trick pony."

He added that Ramsay had apologised to him at the Birmingham Good Food Show earlier this year after calling him a "squashed Bee Gee" who "can't cook to save his life" in the past.

Top Gear star to build Lego house

Top Gear presenter James May is building a house in Surrey entirely out of Lego bricks for a new TV show.

Over three million Lego bricks have been delivered to Denbies Wine Estate in Dorking, where the TV star will develop a two-storey property.

"I've got a man working on a flushing Lego lavatory. We think it's possible," he told the BBC.

The house will be life-size with a staircase, toilet and shower, and May said once it was completed he intended to live in it for a few days.

"Things like power supply, sanitation and plumbing coming into the house are as they could be for a real building... everything within my Lego house must as far as possible be Lego," he said.

May is building the house as part of his new TV show James May's Toy Stories. The presenter's other projects have included building a garden out of plasticine and making the world's largest model plane.

Little Boots "relieved" with album success

Little Boots has admitted that she was "relieved" when her album Hands made number five last month.

The singer, whose new video 'Remedy' premiered online today, claimed that she could now focus on developing herself as a musician.

"I feel like I can get on with doing what I love and being a good musician and performer rather that worrying about hype. And Top 5 album - I can die in peace," she told Radio 1's Newsbeat.

The star, real name Victoria Hesketh, insisted that she was not disappointed that the record didn't make the Mercury Music Prize shortlist.

"No I never really considered it. I don't think my album is really that kind of album," she said.

"I also think Metronomy were robbed of a nomination. Their album, Nights Out, in my opinion is one of the most creative albums of the year.

"As for who I want to win, I'd go with Florence And The Machine or Bat For Lashes."

Little Boots releases 'Remedy' on August 16.

Tempers Flare at T in the Park

US Rockers The Kings of Leon had yet another angry screaming match after their Friday night headline slot at T In The Park, and had to be separated by their tour manager it has been claimed.

Frontman Caleb Followill had an altercation with brothers Nathan and Jared and cousin Matthew following the performance, which ended with him smashing his Gibson 325 guitar according to The Sun.

A source said: "When they came off stage, tempers flared and they were effing and blinding at each other. It was really nasty before their tour manager stepped in. They were even threatening to pull out of Oxegen.

Caleb was livid about the sound and took out his anger on stage without considering the consequences. His guitar is now ruined. The crowd were oblivious to the sound difficulties but the Kings want every show to be perfect."

However, the band did perform at T In The Park's sister festival Oxegen in Ireland the following day.
