Simon Cowell 'prays twins won't win'

Simon Cowell has reportedly said that he is praying X Factor twins John and Edward Grimes do not win this year's show.

The reality talent boss nevertheless said that he had to accept the decision of the public who vote for their favourite singers, The Mirror reports.

Cowell said: "The twins are completely deluded and live in fantasy land but they are lovely. They thought Britney Spears would watch their performance and wanted to invite Robbie Williams to their party.

"I'm praying John and Edward don't win but there are reports they might be in the lead. You have to live with a public vote."

He added: "If they win it would be a complete disaster. I would get on a plane and leave the country then sulk for about six months and Louis will be in serious trouble. The fact is, it's a singing competition, and they can't sing.

"We've got to raise the game now and explain it is a singing competition. Danyl Johnson is back on Saturday to prove a point."

Cowell also admitted that the judges had held crisis talks after last week's show, adding: "I thought Saturday's show and songs were not as good as I expected and we have to dig a bit deeper. It was a pep talk."

Cheryl Cole's debut solo single 'Fight For This Love' is on course to be the fastest-selling single of the year so far.

According to midweek sales, the song shifted 134,000 copies in just 24 hours and has surpassed first day sales of Alexandra Burke's number one 'Bad Boys' last week.

Man claims toy spiders could kill him

A North Yorkshire man has announced that he will be staying indoors on Halloween because he fears the day could kill him.

John Stafford, from Scarborough, suffers from an extreme case of arachnophobia and has been told that he could suffer a fatal heart attack if he sees toy spiders on October 31.

Reports suggest that the 54-year-old has already collapsed once this month after he spotted joke spiders in a store window while he was out shopping.

Stafford told the Yorkshire Post: "When I tell shop owners about it they think it's funny, but it's not a laughing matter. I stop breathing and pass out, it's just terrifying.

"My doctor said that my heart is so badly bruised now that a bad attack could be fatal"

Calling for a ban on Halloween displays in shops, he complained: "It's just thoughtless - they don't realise the effect they can have on people."

Meanwhile, his wife Maria, 44, said: "The other day we saw a window in Eastborough that had some spiders and I thought I'd nearly lost him. He just slumped and fell against me - I had to hit him with my keys to bring him round."

Stafford has reportedly tried hypnosis and medication to combat his problem, but to no avail.

Winnie the Pooh returns for new children's adventure

Children's literature favourite Winnie the Pooh is back in a new adventure with trusty sidekicks Tigger, Piglet and Eeyore -- but also a new friend.

The stories featuring the absent-minded, honey-loving bear and his friends were originally created by A.A. Milne and illustrated by E.H. Shepard.

The last collection, "The House At Pooh Corner", came out in 1928 and the stories are available in around 50 languages around the world.

But now author David Benedictus and illustrator Mark Burgess have penned a new volume of 10 stories, "Return To The Hundred Acre Wood and features a new character -- Lottie The Otter.

"Lottie has her own very definite ideas about how things should be done. She believes that one must always follow the correct etiquette," said Benedictus, adding that she embodies Pooh's values of "friendship and adventure."

Milne
based the original stories on his son Christopher Robin's stuffed toy collection and also put the boy himself in the stories.

The tales unfold in Hundred Acre Wood, supposedly inspired by a forest near Milne's home in East Sussex, southern England.

Louis Walsh 'fears X Factor curse'

X Factor judge Louis Walsh fears that he is finally facing the consequences of Johnny Rocco's curse, a report claims.

Retired gardener Rocco, 69, issued a warning to Walsh at auditions in Manchester two years ago after being mocked by the Irish judge. As well as mumbling in Italian to the boyband manager, he said: "Remember the name Johnny Rocco."

According to the Daily Star, Walsh now blames Rocco after being hit by a run of bad luck as he filmed his judges' houses stage in Italy recently.

It is thought that the star lost his luggage and found himself caught in thunder and lightning on arrival in Milan. Additionally, his contestants were reportedly left stranded near Lake Como after he was banned from taking a boat to join them due to the poor weather conditions.

A source said: "Louis could quite literally have been sleeping with the fishes if they had allowed the boat to sail."

The insider added: "Louis didn't take Johnny's threat seriously at first but now he is really wondering if it could be real."

Responding to the rumours, Rocco said: "Louis has at last had his just desserts. He messed with me and bad-mouthed me and now he's paid the price. Maybe this will stop people like him judging me so quickly and being so nasty."

May unhurt in 'Top Gear' airship stunt

Top Gear presenter James May was left unhurt after a stunt that involved an airship crash landed.

The host had been filming a segment for the
BBC Two series when the craft was blown off course, BBC News reports.

A caravan was attached to the bright orange blimp, which was being flown across Cambridgeshire. Strong wind gusts blew it away from its scheduled cricket pitch destination into a farmer's field located near the A428.

Emergency services were on hand, though were not utilised following the accident.
A spokeswoman for the show confirmed that May escaped without injuries, saying: "Viewers will have to wait until the next series to find out what happens."

It was reported earlier that Australian Top Gear host Steve Pizzati flipped over a race car while shooting the programme.

This Top Gear 3D Stig Projection Alarm Clock is only £29.99, and is the perfect clock for all Top Gear Fans.
