The Doctor goes to Dubai

The cast of Doctor Who have travelled to Dubai to film scenes for the forthcoming Easter special.

David Tennant is due to complete work on four specials before stepping down as the famous Time Lord.

Planet Of The Dead is to be the first of these episodes and will also feature guest stars Michelle Ryan and Lee Evans.

Tracie Simpson, the show's producer, said: "We rarely take Doctor Who abroad, although we did visit Rome for series four's 'The Fires Of Pompeii', which gave us some spectacular footage.

She added that the locations in Dubai are "perfect" for the vision which Russell T Davies has created.
The forthcoming special is to be the first episode of the popular series to be filmed in high-definition.

It recently emerged that 26-year-old Matt Smith is to be the replacement for Tennant after the specials, making him the youngest ever actor to portray the much-loved character
