Carty 'taking the mick' on Dancing On Ice

Todd Carty has revealed that he did not take his appearance on hit talent show Dancing On Ice too seriously.

Carty – who found fame as Tucker Jenkins on kid favourite Grange Hill before going on to a long stint on Eastenders – was voted off the ITV show on Sunday.

He said his experience as an actor helped him approach the programme as a "light-hearted" performance.

"I wanted to bring fun and humour to the show - people can take these things too seriously. People at home want to laugh," he said.

"The whole point of the show is that it's about famous people from across the spectrum trying to dance.

"However, he admitted that he did not plan the fall which occurred when he was trying to perfect his final moves.

Former X-Factor runner-up Ray Quinn is currently the bookmakers' favourite to win the series, following his latest routine with dance partner Maria Filippov.
