Janet Jackson announces world tour

Janet Jackson has confirmed she is to tour for the first time in seven years, with Vancouver set to be the first date of the music extravaganza.

The Rock Witchu tour will then move across North America - including stops in New York and Washington - before going worldwide, reports the Associated Press.

"It's been a while so I really want to make my rounds," said the star, "I haven't been to Australia in a very long time; I can't wait to go there.

"There are a lot of places where I really want to stop off at, and that's the idea, that's the goal with this tour."

Ms Jackson's latest album Discipline reached the stores in February and Jackson had promised a dramatic stage show to support her last two releases.

Tickets for the tour, for which the full itinerary will be announced next week, go on sale on June 7th.
